Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt) and wet messes (spills or stains) in one time without the need to change devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer at a low cost, and it's one of the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.
For instance, you can decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent and the robot is able to detect tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it tends to smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, just a glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.
The docking station features a handy LCD screen that shows when maintenance is needed, such as emptying debris and cleaning the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time as well, with the mop being able to operate for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in standard mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easily understood however we would have liked to be able distinguish between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot vacuum and mop. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity which allows it to pick up smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.
The Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It will then automatically alter its path and clean around the objects without a pause.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process mop button, which doubles as a child-lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself, and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only negative I found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. robot vacuum cleaner reviews can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount for washing manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life and component maintenance. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering how well it performs otherwise.
